Compare this old photograph of part of my local town centre
with what the same place looks like now
I think it is interesting how a row of shop-front awnings in the old photograph gives the parade of shops a unity, and indeed animatiion, which is missing from the same place today.
Could fitting awnings to a parade a shops be an effective part of a local rejuvenation project?
To me the row of awnings in the old photograph says ‘there is something going on here – come and have a look’.
