High Street Events – why poor standards?

Last Sunday my High Street had some events on (paid for by London tax payers although The Mayor was claiming the credit), to coincide with the parade of the Olympic Torch through the town.

I just wanted to show you these photos to show what drives me mad about too many town centres and their management. It is the poor standards which are too readily accepted. ImageImageImage

Exactly what is the point/purpose of the crappy traffic cones around the small stage area, around the Hamlet players and the crash barriers? What does this say about the place? To me it says that people are going through the motions rather than really have their heart in making a place look good and making it work.
